Welcome Aboard!

By making the decision to enter San Benito’s Navy JROTC program, you have become associated with the Navy and its proud traditions and heritage. Through this program you and many other young men and women will be given the opportunity to learn about our country’s development and the people in it.  You will also learn about your potential’ capabilities that you may not know you possess, which will greatly help you in the future.  Now, how did this organization you have joined come about?

 

Background & Beginning

  In 1964 Public Law 88647 authorized the Secretaries of the Navy, Army and Air Force to implement JROTC’s at secondary school level.  Specifically, the NJROTC program has the following objectives:

  • Promote patriotism.
  • Develop informed and responsible citizens.
  • Develop leadership potential
  • Promote habits of orderliness and precision.
  • Develop a high degree of personal honor, self-reliance, individual discipline and leadership.
  • To promote an understanding of the basic elements and the requirements for National Security.
  • Promote community service
  • To develop respect for, and an understanding of, the need for authority in a democratic society.
  • Provide incentive to live a healthy lifestyle.
 

Who Teaches the Navy JROTC Program

 NJROTC Instructors are retired service members from the Navy, Marine Corps, or Coast Guard.  Currently the San Benito Consolidated School District’s (SBCISD) are from the U.S. Navy.  The Senior Naval Science Instructor (SNSI) is our senior commissioned officer, and the Naval Science Instructors (NSIs) are senior enlisted service members.

  The current NJROTC instructor is retired from the U.S. Navy.
