Representatives from the University of Texas and Texas A&M University visited with Senior students on September 19, 2017. Kristi Meyer, UTSA Top Scholar Representative, visited SBHS on September 18, 2017. Ms. Meyer informed senior students about the UTSA Top Scholar program. UTSA Top Scholars receive a full ride scholarship, valued at $100,000.00 to UTSA. To view program requirements, benefits, and to complete an application, please visit utsa.edu/topscholar and/or visit the SBHS Go Center. Deadline to apply is December 1, 2017.

Channel 5 News has announced that San Benito High School Senior, Joanna Gonzalez, has been selected as the first KRGV Student of The Week. Joanna plays catcher on the varsity softball team, is a member of STEMS, Lower Valley Cotillion, and Upward Bound Math & Science. Channel 5 News has selected 10 students from around the RGV to be recipients of this award. Joanna will receive a $1,000.00 scholarship sponsored by Channel 5 News, Bert Ogden, and McDonald's of the Rio Grande Valley. Channel 5 News will broadcast her interview on October 4th during the 6:00 A.M. news segment. Congratulations Joanna!!!
